Lemon Water in the Morning.

Last week whilst in Brisbane for a specialist appointment, my grandparents were also there. My Gran had recently read about the benefits of drink lemon water in the morning, before you eat or drink anything else. I tried it, then decided to do my own research on it.
I currently am having half a lemon to one tall glass of water each morning. It's a great refreshing morning start.

What have I learnt so far?
  1. Aids digestion. It helps with symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, belching and bloating.
  2. Lemon is a source of vitamins and minerals. It contains Vitamin C, B, riboflavin, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.
  3. Lemons increase the rate of urination in the body, therefor helping keep the Urinary Tract healthy. It also means flushing out of unwanted materials more often, keeping your body more cleansed.
  4. Lemon helps liver eliminate toxins and waste. It helps the Liver carry out its functions more efficiently.
  5. Clears skin, and anti aging. The vitamin C along with other antioxidants help keep the skin clear from blemishes, and wrinkles from forming and helps them disappear! Vitamin C is also a vital component in having clear glowing skin.
  6. Energizes you and enhances your mood. Lemons are one of the few foods with more negative charged ions, providing your body with more energy. The scent of lemon also has mood enhancing and energizing properties. It can brighten your mood, clear your mind and it also helps with anxiety and depression.
  7. Lemon can act as a blood purifier
  8. Lemon is one of natures antiseptics
  9. Lemon helps healing. In Ancient Egypt, it was believed lemon could cure some poisons. This may or may not be true, but due to it being one of natures antiseptics, it can help with wound healing, and if rubbed on acne, it might help the acne disappear. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and Vitamin C is an essential nutrient for good health and recovery of stress and injury. Not only this, but lemons have some antibacterial and antiviral properties, good for helping with a cold or flu. It can help with chills and fevers, and it has in some cases, helped clear eczema.
  10. Lemon aids in losing weight. Lemon is high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. Given the liver slows down the metabolism when it's full of waste, the fact lemon helps clear that waste, means your metabolism becomes faster, therefore you are able to lose weight faster. Lemon obviously can not do it all alone, but it sure does help.
  11. Relieves respiratory problems and freshens breath. Lemon can help get rid of chest infections and clear away those annoying coughs! It's also been said to help those with asthma and allergies. Some have said it helps with tooth pain and gingivitis. Be aware that citric acid can damage your tooth enamel, but no, don't brush your teeth straight after having anything with citrus in! (It's always best to wait at least 30 minutes after eating anything to brush your teeth as this will not damage your enamel). You can drink some lemon water after brushing your teeth, or some time after, to freshen your breath, if you're worried about the citrus, after your lemon water you can always drink a glass of normal water to rinse your teeth. Chewing on lemon slices after every meal will also help with keeping your breath fresh.
  12.  Lemon can sooth bug bites and stings
  13.  Lemon acid can stimulate stomach acid and activity in your stomach muscles
  14.  Lemon oil has vessel strengthening properties.
I've been drinking lemon water every morning for over a week and I'm already feeling so much better, especially in the mornings. It's helping clear my skin, and definately my breath.
Do you drink lemon water or use a lemon product? What do you find the benefits are?

365 Days of Positivity - Days 1-7

Everyday for the next 365 days I am going to write something positive about myself. Whether something I like about my body, a talent, an achievement, anything!
Everytime I'm feeling down, I go to this collection and randomly choose one. I will then have to write about it until my mood has improved - I can only write about it in a positive way and hopefully this results in a more positive happier Coralee.
Whenever my depression, anxiety etc gets bad, I let it take over, I barely make it through those dark times, but some certain people have helped me through each of these times and I have so much to thank them for.

I believe I owe to the people who have helped me survive this far, to do everything I possibly can to make myself a happier, person; to create the opportunities for me to be happy, to make it through, and not always rely on others to get me through the dark, tough times.

The above photo is what I wrote for day 1. Along with it, I said this Today is step one, starting with something small.
I have so many people to thank for making it to this day, so many people who have helped me through the tough and the not so tough and so many people who have inspired me to take on a journey of positivity to help myself.

Day 2!
I decided to write this, particularly because I often get so upset about the things that get in the way of me achieving my dreams. But look, I've gotten this far! That obviously means something. This is a good reminder, that even if it takes longer than I hope, I will achieve my dreams.

Day 3.
Sometimes I need to remember that my of my strongest points in my personality is my passion. If you start talking to me about a topic I'm passionate about, I will not shut up, especially if I'm trying to make a point about that topic. I want people to listen, and to think and I believe that that is a very special thing.

Day 4.
I really do enjoy cooking, and that's going to help me so much through life. I can cook from just about anything, so when life brings me minimal food, I will be able to help my tastebuds survive.

Day 5.
My family have done so much for me, they are always trying to help me achieve my dreams, they are always supporting me, looking out for me and looking after me. My brothers and my sister are beautiful people, and I would never give them up for anything.

Day 7
Cello is definately something that makes me who I am. I've always loved it, I've always clung on to it, it's always been what makes me happy. Exploring life with my cello is something that's held me together for a long time.
And the only reason I am able to say this, is thanks to some amazing people who have helped me grow on the cello so far in life. Thank-you.

Day 7
Writing has given me such a big opportunity to express myself. Not only has it helped me through the tough, it also has helped me understand the good, and remember the great. If I didn't have the encouragement from my friends and family to start writing again, I probably wouldn't be writing positively for 365 days.
